Comann Each nan Eilean is the mother society for the Eriskay pony breed and has kept the Studbook of Origin for the breed  since 1972, with the earliest pony dating from 1943. A studbook details all equine ancestors for the breed, and sets the definition of the breed. The Society's studbook is the official register of the breed, according to the UK Government.
